Pennsylvania is one of the best states to live in the USA. Especially if you are in Philadelphia, every major airport is a short drive (not going to talk about the traffic), and finding flight deals is easy. But if you wanna stay local, it got something for everyone too. From the best stargazing place – Cherry Springs State Park to great historic spots – Liberty Bell, there is so much to do in this beautiful state.

Above all, for me personally, Poconos is close to heart. I would travel there every weekend to hike, bike, trek, chase waterfalls, fall colors, winter activities, or just long drives. It used to be my to-go spot on every occasion. And of course, I went there for my honeymoon too.

Here is why Coven Haven in Poconos can be your honeymoon or even a great place to just unplug and plug in your relationship 🙂

Why we picked this place?

Our visa extension came up suddenly so we wanted to pick something local.

When we searched for a honeymoon place around Philadelphia, this is the only place that stood out. And we are glad we went. It’s a beautiful place without the headache of flights, layovers, and immigration.

What striked at first look?

It’s huge. It’s our first time at a resort so very happy to see all the amenities. There is a huge snow tubing arena with a lift, huge entrance station with coffee and hot chocolate complete with a creek. The snow made it more beautiful and the cherry on top, deer those are having fun in the creek. It’s a winter wonderland.

Check in process?

The Check-in process was easy. Lady at the counter gave the tour of the property and we are more surprised to learn that there is so much else to explore. The quick tour and the welcome drink made us comfortable.

What we loved about the suite?

Honestly, the first impression wasn’t great as the suite is old. I, personally don’t like carpet smell so it disappointed me initially. But then I moved to the bedroom, my impression is changing. The bed is cool, especially the setup and the mirrors around.

The best part is behind those doors. The bathroom tub is love-shaped and very well maintained with all supplies. And then there is a private pool with the perfect temperature. It doesn’t end there. We have our own sauna too. We couldn’t wait anymore and jump in the pool right away.

Any special amenities worth talking about?

One shouldn’t stick to the suite although it might seem very comfortable. There is so much more to enjoy on the property. There is a huge game room with skating, a pool, and several others.

But the best part is the restaurant area. Both the nights we were there had some great concerts along with lovely food in a cool ambiance. It is a great place to end the night.

One thing to note that there wont be any food available outside the property. We once wanted to go out but it took 30 min to go to nearby town and found only cafe, especially in winter.

The best part of the stay?

The room service is excellent. They made sure we got all the stuff for our stay and they kept bringing in as we asked for. They even made our stay special by providing us with roses and drinks.

The one other thing to know about the place?

This property is right on Lake Wallenpaupack. The lake must be beautiful in summer and it doesn’t disappoint in winters. It was frozen when we went there but there are several activities that can be done in and around this place.

In short:

It was lovely. It may not be the best out there but if you want something in Poconos, this is a beautiful place. Old and not fully lit, but it got the charm and serves the purpose.

Depends on the suite too. If you are getting the Champagne Tower Suite, it is the best. But Cove Harbor Suite works too if considering the price.

Overall, it’s a great place for a local honeymoon and maybe a good start for your marriage life.

It worked for us 🙂 Have fun!
